FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions...

How long is a Session and how often will we meet?

Each session is 50 minutes long, usually we would meet weekly.  Some clients like to meet weekly initially, changing to fortnightly towards the end.  It is a personal preference.

How much are your session fees?

My fees are £45 for face to face sessions and £40 for online sessions.

Do you offer a reduced fee for Counsellors in training?

Yes, for Counselling Students my fees are £40 for face to face sessions and £35 for online sessions.

How is payment made?

Payment can be made via bank transfer which is due 48 hours ahead of the session.

What happens in our first session?

Our first session will begin by exploring together a working agreement including limits of confidentiality which brings clear understanding of expectations. I am happy to answer any questions that you may have along the way.  During this time you can share with me what brings you to counselling, the area or issue you would like to work on and how you you'd like to use our time together.  This initial meeting may give you a sense of whether you feel we are a 'good fit' and if you would like to meet again. There is no obligation for you to continue.  If we were to discover that the support you require is beyond my level of training or experience we would then explore options such as onward referral or signposting with the focus always being to find the right support for you.

What if I need to cancel my session?

If you need to cancel a session please give at least 48 hours notice where possible.  In the event of an unexpected missed session or cancellation with less than 24hours notice a cancellation fee of half session amount is payable.  Any additional monies from payment already made will be carried over to next session.

What happens if I arrive late to my session?

If you arrive late to a session the end time will remain unchanged, it is not possible to add extra time to the end of the session.

How many sessions will I need?

This is unique to each person's circumstances and need.  We can discuss this in our first session and review at points along the journey.  I offer both short and long term work.

Do you offer both Face to Face and Online Sessions?

Yes, I am now offering both Online and Face to Face sessions.

Which platform do you use for Online Sessions?

Online sessions are generally held on a platform called 'whereby'.  Ahead of an organised session I will email a link to you which will bring you through to join me in my Online Counselling Room.  Alternative ways of connecting would be via Skype, Whatsapp Video Call or phone call.

Where will face to face sessions be held?

Face to Face sessions are held at: Priory View, Church Street, Dunstable, Bedfordshire. LU5 4FG.  I will meet you at the main reception before we head up to the 2nd floor room.  There are both stairs and lift access to the Counselling Room.

Is there parking nearby?

There is a small pay and display carpark just outside the building. Sainsburys is a short walk away where parking is free for up to three hours.  Alternatively Priory View is situated close to other pay and display carparks in the town centre.
